Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar progressed from Sub-Regional Qualifier A. Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Malaysia advanced from Qualifier B. The next stage is scheduled for 2027, keeping six campaigns alive on the long road to the 2028 tournament.
Two groups, six places earned
The qualifiers offered very different routes forward. Kuwait did enough early in Qualifier A to secure progress before the final day. Qatar and Bahrain also advanced, with their last meeting ending on the final ball: Qatar’s No. 11 scrambled a single to finish the chase.
In Qualifier B, Saudi Arabia completed an unbeaten run. Malaysia recovered from early setbacks to win the match that secured its place, with all-rounder Virandeep Singh making 65 not out and taking five wickets against Singapore. Hong Kong, China joined them after a final-day win.
Why the pathway matters
For teams outside the usual tournament spotlight, qualification is built one step at a time. These results do not settle who will reach the World Cup; they decide who gets to keep testing themselves against stronger opposition in the next round.
Notice how many different match-winning routes appeared in the same qualifier window: a team securing its place early, an all-round performance, and a last-ball finish. In T20, depth matters, but so does keeping enough composure to make one good decision when the game narrows to a single delivery.
